What is WINGS?
The FAA WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program is the FAA Safety Team’s voluntary program for pilots who want to keep learning and stay proficient. It runs on FAASafety.gov, where your progress is recorded in your own account.
How earning knowledge credit works
- Watch the program here on hangar7.tv.
- Tap “Earn WINGS Credit →” on the program page. It opens that program’s quiz on FAASafety.gov.
- Sign in and take the quiz. When you complete it, the credit is logged to your FAASafety.gov account.
The quiz and the credit are handled entirely by FAASafety.gov; hangar7.tv doesn’t see or store your results. Some programs are also approved for the AMT (Aviation Maintenance Technician) program; those are marked WINGS + AMT. Programs that also carry IA (Inspection Authorization) credit for mechanics renewing an IA are marked WINGS + AMT + IA.
Who it’s for
Any pilot who wants structured, ongoing safety education, from student pilots to flight instructors. Participation is voluntary. For the program’s full rules, including how WINGS phases relate to your flight review, see the FAA’s own WINGS overview on FAASafety.gov.
